The Absolute Inductosyn® system is an important step forward in measuring and control techniques. It is a synthesis of electronic knowledge applied to metrology, by utilising experiences in the analog and digital fields.

The Absolute Inductosyn® system uses the most modern and complete electronis position transducer, designed with co-operation between Farrand Industries Inc. and Selca SpA research laboratories.

The Absolute Inductosyn® takes the features that made the Inductosyn® the precision standard, universally accepted on machine tools and adds the digital simplicity of the absolute measurement.

The Absolute Inductosyn® is a transducer which combines on the same support the classical Inductosyn® pattern for high accuracy cyclic position measurements with a further pattern that provides the absolute position information. Both patterns are practically merged in a single photoengraving madeby the same techniques and production processes of the traditional Inductosyn®

It may be superfluous to point out that with the completely absolute transducer, any axis movement, also when power is off, will be measured and displayed when power is turned on again.

This way the zeroing operations are avoided. Such operations are necessary with the incremental or semiabsolute transducers when the system is switched on or in the case of power failure.

Linear transducers with resolution of 0.1 micron, high precision and useful strokes up to 8m are available.

Rotary transducers, 7" diameter, with resolution of 0.0001° and precision better than ±0.001° are available.
